1:50PM - My job

Just a little update.

My job kicks your job's ass.

Seriously, everyday I go to work and think, "Man, this is all that I have to do forever. This is so awesome!!" I swear I get to work and look at my watch five minutes later, and it's time to go. My patients are awesome too! It seems like everyday there is a dessert or flowers or something that a patient's family bought us. Yesterday we had a King Cake and a bouquet of roses. Our patients are with us for over a month at least so it makes sense. They become like family. That being said, it makes it very hard when one of them dies...which happens a lot more often than you'd like to think.

In other news, we have been working on lots of wedding stuff. I printed the invitations myself (they're not the best but they serve their purpose), made the favors (a cd, of course), bought the stamps for the invitations, booked our flights for our honeymoon, booked our honeymoon night hotel room, and basically have everything finished for the wedding itself. It's crazy how many random things start coming out of the woodwork.

I can't wait to be married!! It's going to be so amazing!!

I really feel like I have all my ducks in a row now. Now the wedding just needs to hurry up and get here!!

That's all for now!

10:24AM - The beginning of the rest of my life

So, for those of you who don't know, I recently graduated from nursing school. (Yay!!!) I also got a job at MD Anderson on the bone marrow transplant unit. (Double yay!!!) This job is incredible because MD Anderson pays the most in the medical center. In fact, I already got a $2000 raise before I even started!! (Another yay!!)

Because of the fact that I am at this big turning point in my life, I feel the need to change a few things. First, I need to start taking care of myself again physically. I need to start working out and eating right again. We just quit going to the gym altogether, and now I sit on the couch everyday with nothing really to do but eat. This has got to stop.

Secondly, I need to work on my appearance physically in other ways. Bryan and I cleaned out my closet the other day, and I had to justify my clothes in order to keep them. About 20 of my shirts I threw away because I had gotten them for $2-3 at Target on the clearance rack. I think that I take frugal to a new extreme, but then again, I've never really had too much money of my own. Now that I will have money of my own, I need to lighten up on the frugal-ness. Bryan even told me that he was worried about me because I never go shopping any more for myself. All I do is "save" my money. That being said, we do have enough to pay for our honeymoon and anything else we will need for the wedding in savings right now.

Anyways, I just wanted to get a few of my New Year's resolutions in writing. I think that this will help me to stick to them.

5:20PM - Sometimes it pays to be a nurse...

Today I went with my dad to MD Anderson to get platelets. The platelets had finished infusing, and the nurse had just come in and switched it to a saline flush. His PICC line (like an IV line except it goes straight to the heart) started filling up with air because the nurse hadn't taken the time to do it properly. So basically there was a bunch of air headed straight for his heart, which would kill him by the way. I was sitting across the room reading a magazine and I looked up to see his line full of air. I jumped up, clamped the line, and called the nurse in about 2 seconds. Luckily the air was still just in his line and hadn't gotten into his body yet but if it had...

Suddenly the thousands of dollars for nursing school seems worth it.

8:17PM - Life is great!

My classes are great! It's pretty cool when every class you are taking makes you think that you want to do it for the rest of your life.

Working out is going great! I go and work out at least every other day. It makes me feel so much better! The diet is going great as well. I am realizing just how much will power I have. (I passed up pizza yesterday and ate my Smart Ones meal instead!)

Things with Bryan are great! He is the love of my life, and everyday gets better and better!

Bryan's band is doing very well. It's kinda weird to have people come up to us and say, "Hey! Aren't you in My Last War?"

In other news, I <3 Love Monkey!! It's the only TV show that I actually plan my schedule around.

Hope everyone is as happy with life as I am!

Apparently everyone had a bad weekend. My friend that I ride to school with everyday was diagnosed with glaucoma at the age of 24 and another girl's father was killed in the wreck on I-10 this morning where the guys were driving the wrong way for a mile.

I guess things can only get better, right?

I am officially a senior!!

Take the quiz: "Which Horror Movie Are You?"

The Craft
You're whole life, you've felt different. You know you're different, and that is why you break away from the norm and don't give a shit what other people think about you. You're you, you're proud, you're a bit... weird might I say? but you're far more interesting than most people will ever percieve. Keep being yourself, whether people like it or not.

I have three tests left. That's it. I can't believe that in two weeks I will be a senior. Holy crap.

I feel like in the past semester I have become a real nurse. That's not to say that I am ready to be on my own as a nurse... I just feel like I actually could do something that no one else could do. That's crazy.

In other news, Bryan's band was asked to play with some pretty big names in hardcore. I know that they are pretty big because I have heard of them, and I don't even listen to hardcore unless I am with him. It should be fun times.

That's all for now.

10:00PM - Name droppin'...

Yesterday I met Rachel from the Real World: Austin. She was very nice and talked to everyone individually and stuff. She and her friend, a 4'10" balding guy wearing an argyle sweater and chucks, made fun of me (in a nice way) about 20 times because every time I would walk past them, he would say, "You're turning red again..." and, of course, I would turn beet red.

Anyways, for those of you who are interested Rachel said that...

Melinda and Danny are still together.
Rachel is still living with Erik.
She doesn't talk to Melinda and Danny because they are still too...whatever.
She would not want to be on the Real World again.
The fight in the last episode was really how it looks, and the only way she could explain it was that emotions were running high because everyone was about to leave.
She said it was started by the "not really being in the war" thing.

Back to studying...
